How to add another person's health record in Andaman7
There are several ways you can have the record of another person in your Andaman7 app:
- If the other person also has Andaman7 and agrees to give you access to their record, you can ask them to share their record (or parts of it) with you. See How do I share my record with other Andaman7 users?
- If the other person doesn't have Andaman7, you can manually create a record for them in your account. See How to add a new health record?
Retrieving another person’s health record from a hospital
In many cases, you can obtain another person’s health record directly from the care facility they visited, provided certain conditions are met:
- The care facility must be compatible with Andaman7. See What hospitals and care facilities are compatible with Andaman7?
- You must have legal authorization to access their records. This is often referred to as proxy access.
What is proxy access?
Proxy access allows an individual—such as a parent, legal guardian, caregiver, or designated representative—to access a patient's medical records on their behalf. This access is typically granted through a patient portal or electronic health record (EHR) system.
Proxy access may be subject to restrictions, depending on the IT system used by the care facility, the legal regulations in your country, or specific hospital policies.
How proxy access usually works
- Authorization: The patient must provide consent for another person to access their records, except in cases where automatic access is granted (e.g., for parents of minors).
- Verification: The hospital typically requires identity verification before granting access.
- Access: Each care facility connects to Andaman7 in a different way. However, in most cases, if you have been granted proxy access, you will see the option to import the additional record when using the "Import data from my hospital, payers,..." service in your Andaman7 app (after the step to enter your portal's credentials).
