Android 15 introduces a feature called Private Space, a secure, isolated area on your device where you can store sensitive apps, files, and data, protected by additional authentication (e.g., PIN, fingerprint, or face unlock). When locked, it hides these apps from the main profile, app drawer, notifications, and recent apps view, enhancing privacy for sensitive content like banking or health apps.
If you’re considering placing Andaman7, as a health app, in Private Space, you should do so with full awareness of its limitations. If Andaman7 is placed in the Private Space, the following features will be restricted:
- Notifications: You can only receive notifications from Andaman7 when your Private Space is unlocked. If your Private Space is locked, you won’t see notifications, including critical ones like medication reminders or alerts about new data availability.
- Synchronization: Andaman7 will not be able to sync data in the background when the Private Space is locked. You’ll need to be extra vigilant to ensure synchronization is complete before locking Private Space or closing the app.
- Adding documents from external apps: Normally, you can share documents (e.g., from your photo gallery, file manager, or email) to Andaman7 using the "Share" or "Open with" options. If Andaman7 is in the Private Space, it won’t appear as a sharing destination.
Other potential impacts may emerge as more details about Android 15’s Private Space become available.
Recommendation: If you rely on Andaman7’s notifications, background syncing, or sharing capabilities, consider keeping it outside the Private Space to avoid these restrictions. Important note : if Andaman7 is already in the Private Space, be aware that deleting the Private Space will also delete the app and its data with no backup!! As Andaman7 does not store your data in the Cloud, the data will not be recoverable.
