How to back up or restore my data? (Android)

In order not to lose your valuable medical data in case of loss/theft/break of your device, we strongly advise you to make a backup of your data. There are different ways to back up your Andaman7 data. It is always better to save in several different ways, in case one of them goes wrong. In this article you will find information about backing up and restoring your Android device.

You can back up content, data, and settings from your Android device to your Google Account. You can restore your backed-up information to the original device or to another Android device.

Restoring data varies by device and Android version. You can't restore a backup from a higher Android version onto a device running a lower Android version.

Note: Not all Android devices have settings in the same place or with the same names. For your specific device's settings, see your manufacturer's support site.

Back up data & settings

1. Open your device's Settings app .
2. Tap System > Backup.
   Tip: If these steps don't match your device's settings, try searching your settings app for backup.
3. Turn on your backup service.

Note: On a tablet that people share, only the tablet's owner can see the backup and reset options.

What gets backed up

Backup services differ. If you back up to Google Drive, here's what's backed up:

• Google Contacts data
• Google Calendar events and settings
• Wi-Fi networks and passwords
• Wallpapers
• Gmail settings
• Apps
• Display settings (brightness and sleep)
• Language and input settings
• Date and time
• Settings and data for apps not made by Google (varies by app)

Note: Not all apps can back up or restore all settings and data. To find out about an app, learn how to contact its developer.

Add or switch backup accounts

Add a backup account

1. Open your device's Settings app .
2. Tap System > Backup.
   • If these steps don't match your device's settings, try searching your settings app for backup.
3. Tap Account > Add account.
4. If needed, enter your device's PIN, pattern, or password.
5. Sign in to the account that you want to add.

Switch between backup accounts

1. Open your device's Settings app .
2. Tap System > Backup.
   • If these steps don't match your device's settings, try searching your settings app for backup.
3. Tap Account.
4. Tap the account that you want to use for backups.

Manually back up data & settings

You can manually back up your device at any time, like if you want to transfer your information to a new phone. 

1. Open your device's Settings app .
2. Tap System  Backup  Back up now    Continue.

Erase after backing up

After you back up, you can reset your device by erasing everything on it. Learn how to reset your device to factory settings.

Restore backed-up data & settings

When you add your Google Account to a device that's been set up, what you'd previously backed up for that Google Account gets put onto the device.

To restore a backed-up account to a reset device, follow the on-screen steps. For more help, see your manufacturer's support site.

Important: You can't restore a backup from a higher Android version onto a phone running a lower Android version. Learn how to check and update your Android version.

Restore backed-up app settings

When you reinstall an app, you can restore app settings that you'd previously backed up with your Google Account.

1. Open your device's Settings app .
2. Tap System  Backup  App data.
   • If these steps don't match your device's settings, try searching your settings app for backup.
3. Turn on Automatic restore.

Restore backed-up contacts

If you've saved your contacts to your Google Account, they'll sync automatically.
