Obviously, the answer depends on the smartphone you have, the number or records in your Andaman7 app and the content within those records. Some lower-end smartphones may not even have sufficient memory to store all your photos or music. Yet, in general, most modern smartphones offer enough storage space for all of your essential health information, such as allergies, medications, medical history, consultations, and more.
There are, however, two types of data that may not fit if your device has limited memory:
- Large collections of high-resolution images
- Extremely high volumes of data points (for example, continuous tracking of blood pressure over many years)
To help you manage heavy data, we’ve developed two features that offer solutions.
- Storing links to heavy image files
For large image sets, such as medical imaging, which are typically stored on a server by the care facility, you can choose to store just the link to these images in Andaman7 instead of saving the image files directly to your device. This helps conserve valuable storage space on your phone. When adding a document to your Andaman7 app, select the document type "Online document" and insert the link to the external image storage instead of uploading the actual files. - Managing large amounts of data points
When the number of data points in a specific field becomes exceedingly large (for example, tracking heart rate or steps over time), the app will suggest deleting the oldest data to free up space. Specifically, if a field exceeds 5000 data points, the app will offer to keep only the most recent 2500, while deleting the older entries. You can choose to accept or decline this suggestion.
Checking Storage Space
As technology continues to evolve, most smartphones now come with larger storage capacities. Many devices also allow you to view the amount of storage used by each app. You can check Andaman7’s storage usage, see how much space is left on your phone, and potentially make room by deleting unused apps or backing up your photos to an external service.
The Bottom Line
The key takeaway is that most smartphones have ample memory to store all of your important health data. With a few adjustments, such as managing large files and data points, you should be able to use Andaman7 without worrying about storage space.
